2025 Policies

Shipping Policy

We take great care picking, packing and shipping your order. Dahlia tubers are shipped during the month of April as weather allows. All tubers are individually labelled and packed in vermiculite; orders are shipped in a box with adequate packaging material, and a packing slip/invoice; up to $100 in insurance is provided by the carrier. You will receive an email with tracking information so you can monitor your package in transit.

Once we hand your order off to the carrier, we entrust them with the safe delivery of your tubers. We are not responsible for any issues that arise during transit, including but not limited to: package loss, crushing the box, freezing, overheating, and porch pirates. If there are any problems with your order while in transit, you should follow up with the carrier using the tracking information provided.

24 Hour Refund Policy

At RainySunday we strive to provide you with high quality dahlia tubers that will bring you joy all season long. Tubers are individually checked for eyes and quality when divided, going into storage, several times through the storage season and again when picked and packed for shipping, but mistakes can happen.  If you receive a tuber in poor condition, you may request a refund within 24 hours of delivery, as noted by tracking information.

How it works:

  • Inspect your tubers as soon as they arrive
  • If you find any issues, email us at rainysundayranch@gmail.com within 24 of delivery.  Please include your name, order number, tuber name, the problem you are seeing and a photo of the tuber(s).
  • We will review your request and let you know how to proceed.
  • If a refund is granted, you will return the tuber to RainySunday and once received, the refund will be processed.

Storage Loss-In the event that a tuber you ordered does not survive storage and cannot be shipped, we will contact you via email and refund the unavailable item(s). Shipping will be refunded as well if the entire order is unavailable.

Packaging Errors

  • Open and inspect your order as soon as it arrives.  Check that quantities and varieties match what you ordered.
  • If there are missing or incorrect varieties, please contact us at rainysundayranch@gmail.com within 24 hours of delivery. Please include your name, order number, details about what is missing/incorrect and a photo of your order.

Customer Conduct Policy

Dahlias provide real beauty to all of us that enjoy them. Unfortunately, they also seem to bring really big feelings to some of the community the last couple of years. We expect our customers to treat us and the rest of the dahlia community (buyers, growers, and sellers) with respect and kindness.

Any customer service issues must be handled privately with the business involved, not on social media outlets. All communication will remain respectful and polite.

The competition around purchasing dahlia tubers can be intense and can bring up lots of emotions for some. Please remember most small farms have limited stock and are doing our best to provide you with as many tubers as we can. In order to maintain a fair playing field, we cannot allow the use of bots and if we believe orders have been placed with bots or other unfair advantage, those orders will be cancelled.

Thriving small businesses and farms in the dahlia community is good for all of us as dahlia lovers. Let’s all do what we can to build and maintain a respectful, beautiful community.

Disease Policy

Growing and providing healthy, beautiful dahlias is important to us.

Steps we take to grow healthy dahlias:

  • We are inspected by the Washington State Department of Agriculture during the growing season and our inspector did not find any evidence of virus in our fields/gardens.
  • We sanitize our tools with Virkon S or bleach solution between every plant for the entirety of the dahlia season (taking cuttings, harvesting flowers, deadheading, cutting down plants, cleaning up clumps, dividing, etc).
  • Any plants exhibiting signs of virus (or gall) are culled (pulled and disposed of, not in compost).
  • We actively work towards healthy soil for healthy plants and less pest pressure.
  • We treat pests organically to reduce their ability to spread disease while also protecting our bees, pollinators, and soil health.

We have participated in the American Dahlia Society’s ongoing dahlia virus research. The ADS’s research shows that 87% or more of visually healthy, asymptomatic dahlias have at least one dormant virus. Tools and insects are the main vectors for transmitting virus in dahlias which is why we carefully sanitize tools and treat for pests while striving towards healthy plants with robust defence systems. Due to the prevalence of asymptomatic viruses, we cannot guarantee tubers sold are free of virus.  Testing all of our dahlias for all viruses is cost-prohibitive, inaccurate and only captures a brief moment in the life of the plant. You are acknowledging the dual reality of our efforts to provide healthy stock and the impossibility of a virus-free guarantee when you purchase from RainySunday.
